Good afternoon (Ladies and Gentlemen.) It is a delight to be here, and I thank BCI for the opportunity to be able to talk to you.
This afternoon, I am going to relate to you some of the experiences a relatively large telco in the use of VRLA batteries over the past 10 years or so. The focus is on VRLAs in standby use in telecommunications and UPS applications and I apologize in advance to those in the audience who have little interest in telecommunications batteries.
I thought I would break the ice by sharing with you one approach to reliability.
Working at the Telstra Research Lab, we saw very early in the piece the apparent inconsistency with the new digital world of personal communication systems and traditional telco powering reliability.
