For the purposes of describing performance, we can identify two groupings of VRLA vintages.
The pre-94 list was all the batteries allowed into Telstra under the 89-90 “approved listed”. These allowed Telstra “to get on with business”. These batteries were aligned with applications and their performance watched for the the purposes of the post-94 list, drawn up to meet the 5-year supply contract. Some product was adopted, some dropped, and there were some (not many) new entries.
It is in this light we have some measure of the evolution of VRLA battery performance over the last 10 years. Now let’s look at some results.
